@justusJA STRIKING FOR GOLD WITH OVERTIME RIDDIM

FEATURE COURTESY OF THE JAMAICAN STAR. A GREAT PIECE FOR A HARD WORKER

It's the biggest problem that most people face in the competitive music business, especially scoring a major commercial success: What do you do for an encore?
Justus Arison and Patrick 'Roach' Samuels of JustJA Productions attack that problem with great panache with their follow-up project, Overtime, after the wonderful success of 2011's breakout hit-spawning Overproof rhythm. As rhythms go, Overtime is similar to Overproof in terms of the understated feel of the rhythm with its cool keyboard synths, liquid groove and bubbling bassline.

Next generation

Dancehall superstar Beenie Man gets things going with the rhyme-happy Clean Heart where he declares that "bad mind fi dead out before the next generation", and lyrics decrying 'bad mind' and envy.
Billboard chart-rider Gyptian delivers the signature song on the project.
Overtime, where he uses witty workplace metaphors to approach a girl in his wonderful singjay dancehall style. The ever-reliable Mavado shines with his ode to Caribbean Girls, his song fitting perfectly on the grooving bassline of the rhythm.
Former Portmore Empire frontman Blak Ryno demonstrates excellent grasp of dancehall wordplay with Summer Wine while Christopher Martin continues his brilliant recent form with the ice-cream smooth Na Na Na. Dancehall firebrand Elephant Man teams up with the ultra-talented Khago for Slap Weh.

Joy and vigour

Veteran Spragga Benz surges through with the commanding She Love Me, and you can hear the joy and vigour in his voice, as Benz shows that even after 15 years in the music he has the ability to reinvent himself and flow bar to bar with the best artistes in dancehall today.
Rookie artiste Byrd Villain shows his musical chops with the tongue-twisting Pushy Good while Wasp is incredible as he declares that he is Hot Like Fiya. JA Productions artitste Navino is a revelation on Party We Say, a single that drives home the point that this young man is the future of dancehall-reggae music with his tight rhymes and melodic voice.
Spice borrows the rapper-actor Will Smith's melody of the title sequence of the sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel Air for The Holiday to recreate the perfect summer vibe while Melloquence inspires the downtrodden and disenfranchised with Go For Mine. New artiste Ajrenaline is surprisingly good on One Room, the beat providing minor assistance to the lyrical flow of one of the talented new generation of artistes.

Mavado Married/ Business or Romance?

Following widespread rumors and speculations, it is now official that Singjay David Constantine Brooks more popularly known as Mavado aka the Gully Gad is indeed married, and has filed his marriage license in the US State of Florida. While Mavado and his management team are still tight lipped about the details of the wedding and the marriage, Federal Documents have proved that the rumors are indeed true. This move many have said could be more than just mere romance but rather a business arrangement, most will remember the Singjay losing his US Visa for a year and as a result lost great potential income, in addition to this Mavado has recently signed a deal with Hip Hop power house Dj Kahlid's We the best Music Label. All in all Mavado seems to have his future in the music business at hearth and would not want to fall in the same boat as his rival artiste Vybz Kartel, who is now behind bars and had lost direct access to all international streams of income. GAZA SLIM FREE/ VYBZ KARTEL REMANDED AGAIN

Gaza Slim is now free on Bail and is expected to return to Court on February 1, 2012 after being charged for attempting to pervert the course of Justice as well as conspiracy to pervert the course of Justice. Vybz Kartel on the other hand has not been so fortunate in his bid for temporary freedom as he was again denied Bail
and is expected to return to Court on February 1, 2012 as well.

Both perverting the course of justice charges were issued after police seized a cellular phone possessing a text message in which Kartel ordered Gaza Slim to concoct a false robbery story involving Clive “Lizard” Williams, one of two men that the Portmore Empire leader stands accused of killing last year.
On October 29 of last year, Gaza Slim filed a police report at the Constant Spring Police Station; intimating that she was robbed and gun-butted by Williams during an incident in Havendale, St. Andrew. Gaza Slim filed the report five days after police charged Kartel in Williams’ murder. Allegedly, Gaza Slim made up the story in an attempt to aid Kartel’s legal defense.

Kartel’s lawyer, Christian Tavares-Finson asked presiding Senior Resident Magistrate to outline her reasoning in writing regarding why she did not offer Kartel bail. Once she complies with that request, Kartel’s legal team will then decide their next move.
